NEW! The search quest of Prince Willem

Prince William of Orange hid a mysterious treasure somewhere in Breda 500 years ago. With this, he wanted to test who the bravest knights were. Even today, only the bravest children can find the treasure.

Solve riddles and puzzles to find Prince William's treasure.
You can pick up the treasure hunt for € 1.95 at the Explore Breda Store. Open from Wednesday to Saturday, from 10:00 to 16:00. When the Store is closed, you can visit the Colonie on Grote Markt.

Still not convinced? There are many more fun scavenger hunts to do in Breda. Also for adults!

On the road with the whole family

A visit to a museum, skateboarding at Pier 15, or to Reptielenhuis de Aarde? There is plenty to do with children in Breda. Are you currently out of ideas for activities with the kids during the May holidays? We have listed all the tips for you.

Breda from the water

Is the weather nice? Discover Breda from the water. It offers beautiful and unique city views. How about a boat tour, boating, stand-up paddleboarding, canoeing, or a ride on the waterbike? One thing's for sure: (water) fun is guaranteed. The May holiday break falls early this year. Check in advance what is already possible.

To the Bredase bollens

Beautiful, aren't they, those Breda bulb fields? In one place with bright, exuberant colours and just a street further on in soft pastel shades. Every year, more of these Keukenhof-worthy flower beds are added. We wanted to learn a bit more about them and spoke with Anton Lips, the man behind the Breda bulb fields. Read the interview here. Shopping in Breda

A day of shopping in Breda is always a good idea. Explore the beautiful boutiques in Oranje-Zuid, the City Centre, and 't Ginneken. Is the weather bad? Then discover the indoor shopping centres, such as De Barones and De Houtmarkt.

Whether you love high fashion, vintage stores, or budget shopping; in Breda you can find it all within walking distance. Increasingly, entrepreneurs are showing that shopping doesn't have to be environmentally taxing. They buy sustainably, operate package-free, or sell vintage clothing and accessories.

Feeling like a break during your shopping trip? Stop by one of the nice coffee hotspots or lunch spots.

Climbing the tower of the Grote Kerk

It is Breda's pride and joy: the Grote Kerk Breda. The tower of the Grote or Onze Lieve Vrouwe Kerk of Breda, which is over 97 meters high, was built between 1468 and 1509 in the Brabantine Gothic style. At 60 meters above ground, you have a magnificent view of the historic city centre and the surrounding landscape of Breda.

Every Thursday to Sunday, you can climb the tower at 14:00 and 15:00 with a guide from Gilde de Baronie. It’s a brief ascent, but the view is unforgettable.
For safety reasons, the minimum age is 12 years.

Sniffing culture in Breda

In Breda you will find traces of a rich history everywhere. Want to learn more about it? Be sure not to miss the Municipal Museum Breda, which features a permanent exhibition on the Bredase Nassaus and a new temporary exhibition with thirteen murals. A real must-see!
But Breda has more museums. Little gems covering a wide range of topics.

You're also in the right place for street art in Breda. Our city is a giant open-air museum with nearly 150 Blind Walls that you can admire throughout the city. Each Wall is based on a Bredase story.

To the terrace

Is the sun shining in Breda? Chances are the city’s terraces are nicely filled. Breda is full of terraces: the hospitality industry and Breda are inseparably linked. We have listed many lovely terraces of Breda for you.
