Neighbourhoods

In Breda, we love contrasts. And if you look at the various neighbourhoods in the city centre, we have plenty of them. Where do you feel at home? In the relaxed atmosphere of the Veemarktkwartier? The lively vibe at the Haven? The Mediterranean charm of Oranje-Zuid? Or do you prefer the Burgundian feel of Ginneken? Discover the different neighbourhoods of Breda.

Het Hart

The Heart is the pulsating heart of Breda: the Grote Markt, hundreds of shops, delicious food and drinks on the bustling terraces, and of course the eyecatcher: the Grote Kerk. A historic part of Breda with also surprising new places to discover, such as the intimate shopping square 't Sas, the beautiful Houtmarkt or the covered Barones.

Haven

Strolling, floating in a boat, or enjoying a drink at a terrace. With the Havermarkt and the water of the Haven, Breda has a perfect spot to relax. During the day or until the late hours. There's always something to do here.

Veemarktkwartier

Unique and laid-back, that's the atmosphere in Veemarktstraat, St. Annastraat, and St. Janstraat. Here you can taste the craftsmanship of Breda: small businesses with their own signature. The streets of the Veemarktkwartier are perfect for strolling around.

Don't forget to visit unique places like Begijnhof and the Willem Merkxtuin while you're here! 


Stationskwartier

With Willemstraat and Park Valkenberg, the Station Quarter has a green carpet to the city centre. If you take the Belcrum exit from the station, the cosy Speelhuislaan connects the Station Quarter with the vibrant and creative Havenkwartier.

Boschstraten

The Boschstraat is one of the oldest streets in the city centre. Here you can find creative entrepreneurs, typical Breda companies and of course the Stedelijk Museum Breda. Between the Boschstraat and the city centre used to stand the Gasthuispoort, one of the three city gates through which you could enter the city. 


Haagdijken

Unpolished, bustling and diverse. That's what the Haagdijken are all about. The Haagdijk, one of the oldest shopping streets in Breda, used to connect the city with Princenhage. In the past, there were traders, breweries and shipyards located here. Nowadays, you can find specialist shops, eateries and cafes with various cultural backgrounds along the Haagdijken.


Oranje Zuid

Oranje-Zuid breathes grandeur and allure, and has a somewhat Mediterranean appearance. Passionate entrepreneurs provide a personal welcome and introduce you to their products. Shopping, socialising over drinks, enjoying a nice lunch and dinner. It almost seems like the good life was invented right here!

Havenkwartier

The Havenkwartier is a bit of an outlier, but that's what makes it unique. Do you like a bit of urban, an atmospheric area with a rough edge? Then you definitely shouldn't miss the Havenkwartier. Here, creatives have space to thrive. You can see it and taste it!

Ginneken

Ginneken offers a unique mix of shops, restaurants, nature, and dynamism. With the Ginnekenmarkt as its vibrant heart and the beautiful Markdal and Mastbos as its green gem, Ginneken is a Burgundian atmospheric area with surprisingly many facets.
