    Embark on a discovery
    Explore all those surprising shops, welcoming hospitality and cultural places. In the historical city centre, the industrial Havenkwartier and (heading towards) the Ginneken district. Tick them off right away or add them to your bucket list for next time.


    Cooling by and on the water

    From the water, Breda looks really different, so choose a nice day to take to the water. You can enjoy a relaxing cruise along the canals. But are you a bit more active? Then hire a canoe, motorboat or stand-up paddleboard (SUP). You can even ride a waterbike in Breda!

    Grote Kerk Breda: from glass art to treasure hunts

    The Grote Kerk is undoubtedly the icon of Breda and one of the top monuments in our country. An ancient place, full of stories.

    Re-Belle
    This summer, you can visit the solo exhibition Re-Belle there. Artist Maria Roosen added colourful (glass) elements to the historic backdrop of the church.

    From exploring to Bach
    For children, from young to older, the Grote Kerk offers various treasure hunts, and adults can discover the special building and its stories through an audio tour.
    If you love classical organ music, you should definitely attend one of the Bach on Sunday concerts.

    Newsflash! From mid-August onwards, you can take interactive tours of the church with your smartphone. They will be very special!


    Summer programme Stedelijk Museum Breda… all about animals

    At Stedelijk Museum Breda, animals take centre stage this summer. For children, there are creative workshops, animal treasure hunts through the museum, and even an animal bingo.
    With the Familiesporen programme, you can embark on an active exploration through the beautiful Nassau exhibition and the Ambitie en Verlangen exhibition.

    Furthermore, this summer at Stedelijk Museum Breda, you can also visit various temporary exhibitions such as De Lusten van Engelbrecht, Tamara Muller, Nieuwe Aanwinsten.

    Going out in Breda without a wallet

    You don't always need to bring a well-filled wallet to discover Breda. We searched for (and found) all kinds of free excursions in Breda. 

    Activities for rainy weather

    We do everything we can to make your visit to Breda as enjoyable as possible. But unfortunately, we can't arrange nice weather for you. So if the weather isn't great, remember that rain is really good for the garden and check out our tips for outings in bad weather. 

    Summer at the Chassé Theatre

    There are theatres that close their doors at the end of June to reopen in September. The Chassé Theatre does it differently. It's summer, so the Chassé goes outdoors. For example, with Sunset Cinema, film screenings at surprising locations in the city. Or the Folding Chair Cabaret with three cabaret performances at a special location.

    On the terrace of Vensters, the hospitality hotspot of the Chassé Theatre, you can regularly enjoy live music. And indoors, both theatre and cinema offer a summer programme.

    The Blind Walls Gallery is our street museum. More than 130 (!) murals throughout Breda tell the stories of the city. The paintings are created by artists from all over the world. You can explore the Blind Walls Gallery on your own by bike or on foot, or you can also join a guided tour.
