At Nieuwe Veste, you’ll find the library with an extensive collection. There is a wide selection of courses and workshops in music, visual arts, photography, theatre, musical theatre, dance, and writing. Makersbase is Breda’s creative workshop, where numerous activities are organised, offering opportunities to listen, watch, and participate.

Nieuwe Veste has multiple locations. The main location is in the centre of Breda. The building consists of the medieval Huis Ocrum and a new part designed by architect Hertzberger. Particularly noteworthy are the more than two-hundred-year-old mulberry trees in the garden, living monuments. For food and drinks, you can visit the BOMEN café.

Creativity
If you want to develop your creativity in Breda, Nieuwe Veste is the place to be. In the library, you can browse books or enjoy a quiet space to read and study, with free Wi-Fi available. Interested in taking a course or workshop? There is a wide variety on offer for everyone, young and old, beginners and advanced alike.
At Makersbase, you can work hands-on with modern equipment such as a laser cutter, vinyl plotter, or 3D printer. Here, you can design, programme, and create media, for instance, using a green screen. Makersbase coaches are available to assist you if needed.
