Oranje Zoet 2025
26 April 2025
In 2021, the municipality of Breda and the province of North Brabant jointly purchased the former CSM site. The 26.4-hectare site where the sugar factory used to be situated was then renamed 't Zoet, Sweetspot of Brabant. Within walking distance of the station.
The municipality and the province have the ambition to develop 't Zoet into a high-urban, internationally oriented area with characteristics of Breda and Brabant. A new city district that complements the urban environments that Breda already has.
Park
A part of the site has been secured. Approximately 2 hectares have been enclosed and designed as a park. In the former 'bietenbak' on the Markkade, 6,000 tonnes of beach sand have been poured, creating a sort of amphitheatre. Students from Curio planted trees there, parts of the park have been sown with grass, and toilets have been installed. The park is accessible on foot or by bike via the Markkade. The entrance is located at the 'bietenbrug'.
Suikerklontjes
There was a competition for the temporary use of the park. The winner is the Suikerklontjes. What are the Suikerklontjes? Twenty units in the shape of – you guessed it – sugar cubes, where societal, special, and/or cultural Breda initiatives come together in a sustainable way and provide vibrancy in the city park of 't Zoet in Breda.
Opening Times
City Park 't Zoet is open when events take place.
