Fun fact: Princenhage has a close connection with the Van Gogh family. Three generations of Van Goghs were connected to the village and surroundings of Breda through work and residence. Vincent's grandfather was a minister in the Grote Kerk and is buried in the Zuilen cemetery in Princenhage. Vincent van Gogh lived in the yellow house in Arles. He wanted to establish a colony of painters where artists could live and work.

For beer lovers! In Princenhage, there is a real Bierrreclame Museum that offers a glimpse into the past of advertising in the beer industry in countries such as the Netherlands, Belgium, England and Ireland. It's a special place because it houses the largest collection of vintage beer advertisements in Europe! In the beautifully designed ads from the period 1900 to 1960, you can recognise styles such as Art Deco and Jugendstil.
Tip: Of course, you can also taste some beer! Take a seat at the old café tables, the bar, or in the beer garden.

Did you know that Breda was liberated in 1944? To everyone's surprise, this was done by the Polish and not by the British or Americans. The Poles fought a fierce battle here. At the Maczek Memorial Breda, you will learn about the personal stories of these men and their journey through Europe. They were on their way to liberate Poland, but due to changing circumstances, they never made it there.
Special attention is given to General Maczek, who liberated Breda with as few civilian casualties as possible. Additionally, there is a current programme focusing on freedom, peace, and democracy.
Make sure to visit this interactive museum located at the Polish military cemetery.

The oldest inn and café in Breda and the second oldest in North Brabant. And all this in the beautiful Princenhage. In 1518, Pastor Peter de Bruyn sold the house he built seven years earlier, called 'Huis ‘den Hert'. The inn opened under the same name. Now, 500 years later, Herberg Het Roode Hert is still a catering business with small and large party rooms.
Be 'hartely' welcome at Het Roode Hert for a nice lunch or a party!
