10 x Breda gifts

You're looking for a unique Christmas gift for a true Breda fan. Not unthinkable, as who doesn't love Breda? We've done some groundwork and made a list of our ten favourite Breda gifts fot Christmas.

    Begijn's herb garden

With the Begijn herb garden, you can easily grow five of the more than three hundred herbs that grow in the Bredase Begijnhof. Right at home! In the recycled egg carton, you'll find Heilig boontje, Basil, Red orach, Garden moneywort, and Yin-Yang bean.
The herb garden is only available at the Explore Breda Store, a shop where you can find many more special gifts with a Bredaas story.

    Grote Kerk candle

Let’s hope it never happens in reality, but this tower of the Grote Kerk Breda is made to be lit. The Grote Toren as a candle is available in various pastel colours and is approximately 25 cm high. And if you find it a shame to burn it? Then it’s at least a lovely decoration in your home.
Available at the Explore Breda Store and at Violien.

    Breda beers

Breda is a real beer city. Not only because of its many beer lovers, but certainly also because there are so many local breweries. Frontaal, Big Belly, St. Joris, the Witte Anker. And we could go on for a while like this.
A Bredaas beer makes a lovely gift to give and to receive. Did you know that Bier Lokaal sells special gift packs with Bredase beers? This way you give someone a complete tasting experience as a gift.

    Boschstraat 150

    Wood from Houtmeid

A wine box with the Great Tower, wooden coasters with the Breda crosses, a charcuterie board featuring the map or skyline of Breda; all products from Breda's Paula Ackermann, also known as Houtmeid. Four years ago, she turned her hobby into her profession and began working with wood professionally. In addition to scenes from Breda, she is now also creating products for other cities and personalised wooden gifts.

Soon, Houtmeid will be at the home store Zukini at Marksingel 25

    Gifts with a historical touch

Anyone interested in the history of Breda has surely visited Stedelijk Museum Breda at some point. But did you know that the museum shop also sells gifts related to Breda's history? Beautiful books and images, as well as coasters and pins featuring the historical eye tiles from Breda Castle. It’s worth taking a look around here.

    Damn, that is spicy!

Bredanaar Jeroen de Bont is mainly known in Breda as Dokter Worst. He makes and sells the best hotdogs in Breda from his stall on the Oude Vest. His own ‘Nondedju hete saus’ is, according to many fans, too delicious to be used only for the hotdogs from the Dokter. Therefore, it is now also available online or in a set of four variants. An ideal gift for a spicy family member!

    Saar Barbaars

In the Bredase St. Annastraat, you will find several artisanal businesses including Saar Barbaars. Sarah Boeren designs and creates her own leather bag collection there. Modern with a raw edge. Unisex, so suitable for everyone. And… handmade in Breda!

    Blind Walls for home

Want to give someone a (detail of a) Blind Wall as a gift? You can! In the shop of the Blind Walls Gallery, various items are for sale. You will find prints or screen prints for the wall, puzzles, caps, and even a picnic blanket.

    Koreman limoncello

When you think of limoncello, you might not immediately think of a Breda product. But since brothers Thom and Frank Koreman won the award for the best limoncello in the world in 2021, this delicious drink has been definitively linked to Breda. Apart from limoncello, the brothers nowadays also make ‘cellos’ from other fruits like oranges and yuzu. All traditionally prepared with organic products. This makes the (limon) cello not only a tasty, but also a sustainable gift. From beautiful autumn colours to winter days is just a very small step. Luckily, Breda has enough choice in every season to make your visit to the city a success.

    Breda Gift Card

If you find it really difficult to find the perfect gift, even with our tips, consider the Breda Gift Card, as this supports local entrepreneurs in Breda. It can be spent at more than 200 local shops, restaurants, webshops, and activities in Breda. The recipient can also donate the balance to local charities.

The Breda Gift Card can be bought at the Explore Breda Store or ordered online.
