This monument is a tribute to the 118 Jews who were deported from Breda during the Second World War. The memorial was established thanks to Louis Peeters. He was not Jewish himself.
It has been there since 2011. The poem on the stone was written by Pien Storm-Van Leeuwen.
Each year, the stone is part of the commemoration of Kristallnacht on 9 November 1938. During that night, Jewish property, synagogues, cemeteries, etc. were destroyed and set on fire throughout Germany.
