Free tour at the Vincent Van GoghHuis
27 April 2025 and more
In 1853, the artist Vincent van Gogh was born at the Markt in Zundert. Together with his family (his father was a vicar) he lived in the rectory. In 1903, Vincent's birth house was demolished to make way for a new rectory. On this site you will now find the Vincent van Gogh House.
At the Vincent van Gogh Huis, you can learn more about the artist's youth. Vincent himself tells you in a radio play about his special bond with his brother Theo and the concerns of his parents. Through projections, you witness the Zundert of those days come to life. You get a glimpse into the art trade, witness Vincent's struggle with faith, and discover how the rest of the family fared.
At the Van Gogh Huis, you will find a poetically assembled mix of artworks and quotes that demonstrate Van Gogh's enormous impact on numerous artists. The programme of the temporary exhibitions focuses on artists of the 20th and 21st centuries who were or are inspired by 'the father of modern art'.
