'Polish' tank
The 'Polish' tank was never used at the front. It was transported from a testing ground in Germany to Breda after WWII as a gift from the Polish liberators to Breda.
The story that this is a German tank captured by the Poles is incorrect. The tank was a prototype and was never used at the front. It was located at the testing grounds of the company Krupp in the German town of Meppen, where Polish occupation troops were stationed. Under escort of Polish motorcyclists, the tank was brought to Breda and presented to the city on 29th October 1945.
After the unveiling of the monument 'The Eagles', the tank was moved to a barracks area. Polish veterans disagreed with this decision. The tank was refurbished, painted in its original camouflage colours, and placed in Wilhelminapark.
On a plaque it reads: 'This gift from the Poles is recommended to the care of the public.'
