Pand Grote Markt 19

The building at Grote Markt 19 was called 'Het Lam' or 'The White Lamb'. Prince Philip William, son of William of Orange, had the Meat Hall established here in 1614. You can still see this in the façade with the images of cattle heads. Today, this is home to De Boterhal, which has the brewery St. Joris in its 15th-century cellar.

Only at this location was meat allowed to be sold. The beautiful image of Saint George and the dragon on the facade refers to the crossbow and footbow guild of St. George that was established here from the 17th century onwards.

From 1933 to 1998, the Municipal and Episcopal Museum was located here, the predecessor of the current Stedelijk Museum Breda. Nowadays, this is home to De Boterhal, which features the 15th-century cellar of the St. George brewery.
