The bronze monument 'The Eagles' in Wilhelminapark is a reminder of the first Polish armoured division, the liberators of Breda. Two eagles fighting on a globe. Both the German and Polish coat of arms feature an eagle. On the monument, the Polish eagle is depicted as subduing the German one. The globe symbolises the large scale on which the war was fought.
On the monument, it is written: 'Thanks to our Polish liberators - 29th October 1944'
The monument was commissioned by the committee 'Breda honours its fallen'. Mayor Claudius Prinsen and General Maczek unveiled it in October 1949.
The monument was created by the artist Bon Ingenhousz. There are almost always flowers in the Polish colours red and white nearby.
