Liesbos
Beautiful forest located south of Prinsenbeek in the municipality of Breda.
The Liesbos is the largest ancient oak forest in the Netherlands. It is located south of Prinsenbeek, between the Roosendaal-Breda railway line and the A58, opposite the hamlet of Lies. The forest covers over 200 hectares. Characteristic are the monumental avenues, created for the hunting activities of the former noble owners to quickly and comfortably move their hunting coach.
Particularly noteworthy is 'the round', also known as Hemeltje, with a large, old plane tree surrounded by beech trees, some of which have fallen. The plane tree is used as a 'fever tree or rag tree'.
