BredAnts

Between the station and Park Valkenberg, 800 red ants crawl over the walking section of Willemstraat. This is how the creator, artist Florentijn Hofman, depicts the masses of people who go from the station to the city centre.

Between the station and Park Valkenberg, 800 red ants crawl on the walking path of Willemstraat. The creator, artist Florentijn Hofman, made six different tiles so that the ants appear to be walking in different directions. The insects symbolise the masses of people who walk back and forth between the station and the city centre every day.
Hofman has become known for his extremely large and playful artworks, such as the 'Rubber Duck'. This huge, yellow rubber duck floated around in cities like Amsterdam, Osaka, Beijing, and Sydney.

Beeldschoon Breda added a 'digital layer' to the ants. When you scan the QR code located at the beginning of Willemstraat (both sides) on the right side of the street, the ants come to life. They become larger and seem to walk in all directions.
