WOOD - Quartet Corpus

Feel welcome to the Wolfslaar Natuurtuin for an acoustic concert by the four horn players of the Belgian Korpus Quartet. Few instruments are as intertwined with the forest in their origins as the horn. That's why four men are bringing the instrument back to its roots.

Information

Don't expect traditional hunting music, but a delicate, almost poetic new approach. Goosebumps guaranteed. Together with composer Siebe Thijs, they set out to integrate insights from the bestseller 'The Hidden Life of Trees' by forester Peter Wohlleben into a brand new piece of music: WALD. Watch, listen, and feel what a wonderful world full of feelings and emotions is hidden between the sturdy trunks of the forest.

WALD takes you to a world where trees communicate intensely. Not through spoken words, but through scents, sounds, chemicals, or even electrical signals that form the interactions connecting a whole forest into a real wood-wide-web.

Korpus Kwartet
Korpus Kwartet brings together four horn players from different Belgian conservatories. As a flexible group, they seek ways to give classical music an extra dimension, sometimes even in adventurous locations, such as their production WALD commissioned by NJO Muziekzomer. This way, Korpus Hoornkwartet tries to live up to its name, taken from the Serbian word for soundbox and incorporating the French word 'cor': like a harmonious ensemble that places the horn in surprising ways at the centre.
