Van Dik Hout has been a household name in the Dutch pop culture for three decades and this year celebrates the 30th anniversary of their iconic hit ‘Stil In Mij’. Following the exuberant kick-off earlier this year in a sold-out AFAS Live in Amsterdam, a large-scale tour across the Netherlands is set to follow, and they are far from finished!
The summer of 1994 was the summer of ‘Stil In Mij’ and marked the major breakthrough of Van Dik Hout. They then went on to win many prizes and awards, and around the turn of the century, 3FM listeners voted the song as the best Dutch-language single of all time.
The band continued their success with hits such as ‘Alles Of Niets’, ‘Meer Dan Een Ander’, and ‘Tot Jij Mijn Liefde Voelt’, and more recently with ‘Één Nacht Eeuwigheid’ and ‘Op De Golven Dansen Wij’. As part of De Poema’s, together with Acda and de Munnik, they scored hits with ‘Mijn Houten Hart’ and ‘Zij Maakt Het Verschil’.
Over the years, Van Dik Hout has performed at all the major Dutch festivals, including Pinkpop, Lowlands, and Concert at SEA, and they have completed successful club and theatre tours across the Netherlands.
In 2021, their contribution to Dutch music was awarded the Gouden Harp.
There are very few bands that last more than a quarter of a century. The number of bands that still perform with the eagerness of a young dog after such a period can be counted on one hand.
Van Dik Hout is such a rarity. A Nederpop institution that takes pride in its musical past but has always continued to look forward.
