Chassé Theater: Theatre performance 'Free Birds Fly' by Tiuri
Information
Free Birds Fly is a performance that reflects humanity and society in all its colours, flights of fancy, and flaws. Artistic leader and choreographer Jordy Dik is intrigued by the concept of ‘freedom’, which increasingly recurs in his choreographic work.
What is freedom actually, and when do we experience it? Does freedom have to do with others, or is it already within ourselves? Our free voice longs for the wind to carry it - beyond all eardrums - fully inward. Without the uncomfortable fear of not being understood or getting lost. We are all in search of the same. Light and silence, love and air. So we breathe in, jump, and catch the wind with open wings.
In this third production from Compagnie Tiuri, eleven performers embark on an inner journey. They want to dance to be free. During the first national tour of the company, the performance No Bodies made the barriers of society visible, only to break through them. In the new dance production Free Birds Fly, the no man's land that emerged from this will be left behind to truly be free. Not only in the world we live in, but especially within ourselves.
