Solo exhibition Foki (Faye van de Vorst) at Sip First in Breda

Visual artist and illustrator Faye van de Vorst is exhibiting on 4th, 5th, and 6th April at Sip First in Breda with her solo exhibition POV; Staring Into An Opinionated Void.

Information

POV concerns the cacophony of perspectives consumed online that continues to expand. And the ‘opinion that thus hollowed itself out,’ as Van de Vorst describes it. The exhibition will open on 4 April at 17:00; everyone is more than welcome.

Van de Vorst draws inspiration from the online infrastructure that she herself refers to as a ‘geopinioned void.’ At the same time, this infrastructure turns out to be an inexhaustible breeding ground for visual language and the development of media. But also for generational identity formation and the authenticity of the individual, which is thereby threatened.

Friend and poet Jimmy Rockx will open the exhibition with a spoken word performance. With his poetic delivery, he adds an extra dimension to the theme of the exhibition. Prints, shirts, and paintings will be for sale, and entrance is free.

Faye van de Vorst, better known as Foki (@foki4ever), is an illustrator and visual artist (graduated from the Willem de Kooning Academy, Rotterdam). She describes her poetic-social illustrations as an exploration of the fascination with and frustration over societal trends.

In addition to her work as an artist, van de Vorst is the founder of the Breda-based makers' collective De Vakbond, advocating for local artists.
