Schreeuw in de Ruimte

Come to 'Schreeuw in de Ruimte', an intense performance where mothers in poverty finally get to tell their silent story, accompanied by moving live music.

Information

The Augustinus Parish and the Joseph Wresinski Culture Foundation cordially invite you to the theatrical performance ‘Schreeuw in de Ruimte’. The performance stems from the depths of mothers in poverty. Not because they are hungry. But because they have a story that weighs heavily on them. That story is about their children. In a situation of ongoing economic insecurity, mothers fight to keep their family afloat, healthy, and together. It takes strength. Resilience. Also against the ideas that are held about them. As being bad mothers. And poverty being their own fault. This affects their children. The worst thing that can happen to a mother is for her child to be taken into care. Not because she is violent or addicted, but because she is poor. That rips a mother’s heart apart. That is the story that weighs on the mothers’ hearts and about which they often remain silent.

‘Schreeuw in de Ruimte’ is an intimate performance with live music. This breaks the silence of the mothers. After the performance, there will be an opportunity to discuss and share thoughts.

Some reactions from audience members about previous performances: A heart-wrenching call to subordinate the system world to the human scale. Excellent textual direction; passionate acting; beautiful design. The personal life stories of people in poverty ‘touch’ you. If you can accept these life lessons and see them as a helping hand to move forward together, ‘See the person’ is an essential experience for every performer, volunteer, and policymaker.
