Presentation of the BLAStprijs 2024

Visit the BLAStprijs on 27 November in Breda. Discover innovative infill projects and conversations with experts.

Information

On Wednesday, 27 November, the BLASt Prize will be awarded for the ninth time.

This year, the BLASt Prize focuses on Infill Development. There are many people looking for a home. Instead of expanding into the countryside, Breda consciously chooses to focus on infill development; urban redevelopment offers opportunities and possibilities.

This cannot be done lightly: infill must not only contribute to greater housing differentiation but also to more greenery in the city, good water management, scaling up the facilities structure, and the mobility transition.

Additionally, the new development must integrate with the existing environment. In short, this is no easy task. Assessment To qualify, the infill development – defined as urban redevelopment – must have been completed in the last five years and delivered by November 2024. BLASt, the Breda platform for landscape, architecture, and urban planning that organises the BLASt Prize, has received sixteen entries. From these, the expert jury will select three nominees and then a winner.

The expert jury consists of:
  • Barbara Luns (director AIR)
  • Jeroen de Willigen (creative director/partner De Zwarte Hond and chair of BNA)
  • Jessica Hammarlund Bergmann (urban planner/partner blau|stedenbouw en landschap, city architect Enschede and chair of CRK Breda)

Award Ceremony The BLASt Prize 2024 will be awarded on Wednesday, 27 November, during a festive evening at the music venue MEZZ.

During the evening, several projects will be showcased, the three nominated projects will be presented, and presenter Mascha de Rooij will engage with the jury and the audience.

The Breda alderman Eddie Förster (among other responsibilities, Spatial Planning and Urban Development) will present the award, a plaque. Afterwards, there will be an opportunity for drinks.

The doors will open at 19.30 h.
