Podium for stories: Hear me, see me
Information
What you see doesn’t always tell the whole story. Just as a calm sea can hide a strong current, a young person's life may look fine on the surface while a lot is going on beneath. In Breda, we are proud of organisations that actively support young people, such as De Cultuurkantine, BredaMantelzorg, and PakhuisB. Approximately 1 in 4 young people care for a family member. The Kunstkameraden project provides young carers with space to step away from their caregiving duties and express their creativity.
In the Explore Breda Store, there is an exhibition showcasing artworks created by young carers through BredaMantelzorg. The project is about more than just creating art - it’s also about connecting people and creating stories that go beyond the artwork itself. Here, you can also discover the stories of young carers.
Additionally, there is a platform for the KinderTrendrede, an annual version of a throne speech and future vision presented by primary school children of the city to the local government. In the exhibition, you will find the future visions from the six editions of the KinderTrendrede.
The GalleryLane
Kunstkameraden is also exhibiting at The GalleryLane. Through a fun city walk, you can discover which places in Breda are significant for young Bredanaars. You will end at The GalleryLane, where you will find even more artworks. The Kunstkameraden exhibiting at The GalleryLane come from a variety of backgrounds. They have been recommended by different social organisations in Breda. The Kunstkameraden collaborate with professional Breda artists to tell their stories through art.
Discover what they want to share with you!
Note: The GalleryLane is open on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 12:00 to 16:00. Read all about the exhibition here.
