Photo Exhibition Welkomstaal

Visit the Welkomsttaal exhibition in Breda and listen to inspiring stories from immigrants. Together we connect and share dreams.

Information

Students of Welkomsttaal have modelled for these photos. Come listen to their stories and learn something about their culture.

Welkomsttaal has been providing language lessons in Breda to immigrants for 10 years now. Each of them has their own story and background. They are very eager to improve their Dutch language skills. Because communication is a basic need. By learning the language, they enhance their chances of finding a suitable job at the level they had in their home country. Moreover, they can share joys and sorrows with people in their surroundings. Our students work very hard to integrate. The volunteers of Welkomsttaal help them to improve their language and thereby connect with all kinds of people.

Nieuwe Veste is organising an exhibition in the reception hall at the main entrance of Nieuwe Veste to give these positive and motivated individuals the stage they deserve. And also to foster more understanding of the effort that an immigrant makes to settle here in the Netherlands.

Come and see the professional photos that show the strength of immigrants. Scan the QR codes and listen to their stories, for example about the moment they first felt welcome in the Netherlands. And listen to their dreams. Perhaps you can contribute something to help make those dreams come true! We warmly invite you to share your idea in our guestbook. Who would you like to go for a bike ride, do sports, play chess, or whatever you can offer? This way, we can connect with each other and make the world a little bit nicer!

Immigration threatens to get a negative connotation in society. This is unfortunate, as immigration has always existed and will never stop, according to immigration guru Hein de Haas.

Let’s open our hearts and connect with new Dutch citizens! Let’s welcome them, because they are interesting and valuable people.
