Pacific lecture: from cruelty to peace

The annual Pacification Lectures take place alternately in Breda and Ghent and are organised to exchange thoughts on the importance of peace, tolerance, and respect for diversity. The lectures are inspired by the Pacification of Ghent and its significance for contemporary society. This year's speaker is Alicja Anna Gescinska. Alicja Anna Gescinska (Warsaw, 1981) is a Polish-Flemish philosopher, writer, and television maker. Gescinska gained recognition through the book The Conquest of Freedom. She speaks on the theme 'From Cruelty to Peace', discussing forgiveness as a political virtue.
