Information
The City Archive & archaeology Breda is organising an open day. Throughout the day, there will be free guided tours, lectures, and a children's activity to participate in. The Breda city archive aims to make the collections more diverse and inclusive together with the city, thus reaching as broad an audience as possible.
The city archive is the memory of Breda and is happy to share that with the whole city: everyone is welcome! During the Open Day there is a diverse range of activities. In addition to the regular guided tours, this year there will be tours for people with disabilities. In the morning, a low-stimulation tour will kick off. Afterwards, there will be tours for blind and partially sighted individuals, where the emphasis will be on smell and touch. For the tours for deaf and hard of hearing individuals, a sign language interpreter will be present. People with mobility issues and wheelchair users can join a tour of our above-ground depot.
Especially for children, there is a crafting room, and for researchers, there is the opportunity to get more information about paleography (ancient writing) and genealogy (family tree research). In the study room, beautiful archaeological finds can be viewed and touched! In the afternoon, there are two free lectures to attend! Due to limited places, registration for the different guided tours is necessary. This can be done on the city archive's website. For more information and the full programme, visit the Stadsarchief Breda website.
