Omasta plays Madlib in MEZZ
The Polish band Omasta mixes raw jazz with hip hop and delivers an energetic tribute to producer Madlib in their own groove.
Information
The Polish band Omasta draws inspiration from street and jazz culture. They combine jazz with hip-hop and do so with a driven rhythm section, supplemented with piano, trumpet, and saxophone. After their debut in Kraków, Omasta was allowed to open for the American hip-hop group Slum Village. Since then, they have performed on various stages at festivals and clubs.
Earlier, they created a special tribute to the iconic hip-hop producer J Dilla for Dilla Month, but they are now doing this for the great producer Madlib. The band adopts Madlib's iconic beats into their own raw, jazz-infused sound. Omasta is also working on their debut album ‘Jazz Report from the Hood’, which will be released this autumn.
