Nieuwe Verbindingen

With New Connections, the architecture centres CAST (Tilburg) and BLASt (Breda) are exploring how our region can become more sustainable and develop, together with the Urban Region Breda-Tilburg (SRBT). They are doing this through a travelling exhibition, regional discussions, and a multi-day workshop.

The exhibition shows how municipalities can address current challenges, such as redeveloping old industrial areas, post-war residential neighbourhoods, and outdated shopping centres. These are places that have often been designed as monofunctional, but are now in need of a mix of functions, sustainability, and renewal.

Young designers have studied six locations in the region and developed future visions as part of the international ideas competition Europan. Their proposals are part of the exhibition and provide inspiration to sharpen and actively tackle similar challenges in the region. The exhibition has previously been on display in Tilburg, Waalwijk, and Etten-Leur.
