Nature Walk Voorbos | Gilde De Baronie

It is with Natura 2000 a forest with special natural values. It is a truly ancient oak and beech forest, characteristic as a swamp forest with brook and spring water. To preserve its rich forest flora and biodiversity, efforts are currently underway to restore water levels and improve the spring flow. A clay screen is being constructed, and they are in the process of stripping the valley along the Broekloop. Parts of the forest and the Broekloop are being made shallower.

Additionally, there are actions to reduce nitrogen levels. Staatsbosbeheer is also actively involved in the maintenance of the forest. The new planting consists of broadleaf trees such as hornbeam, hazel, lime, oak, and sweet cherry. During the walk, you will notice the signs of spring such as barrenwort, wood anemone, and wild garlic. Come along, view the flora and adaptation works; you are never too old to learn something new by experiencing it in nature.

The walk lasts 1.5 to 2 hours.
