Information

About Agnes

Agnes was born and raised in Breda. After secondary school, Agnes completed a textile course (NS) in Tilburg and Groningen, followed by a course in handcraft in Groningen. During the latter course, she was introduced to clay for the first time. This love has never faded. Later, in Amsterdam, she learned to throw pottery at a pottery studio.

Now she uses plaster moulds to create pots and bowls. This gives her work a clean shape and enhances the equally neat design. The pattern, which she applies after the first firing, is created freehand with the help of a pencil, set square, strips of paper, and elastic bands. The design she creates emerges directly from her hands, without making a design in advance. She then lets it rest for a while. In the meantime, she regularly reviews the work to see if it is "balanced." If necessary, she makes some adjustments. Only then does she begin the glazing process.

Over the years, Agnes has developed her own style, which is also recognised and appreciated by others. What distinguishes her work is that it is sleek, refined in execution, and vibrant in colour. Moreover, her use of colour is evolving; Agnes is using fewer and fewer colours.

About Odile

Odile also lives in Breda. Since her youth, Odile has been painting and drawing. In secondary school, she took it as a final exam subject and also attended painting courses in Breda at “de Beeldenaar” and later at “de Nieuwe Veste.” In 2019, Odile completed a five-year painting course at the IKO in Hoogstraten.

Her work as a painter revolves around exploring the rich diversity of painting styles. Depending on the subject she wishes to paint, she chooses her style. She is inspired by many different themes such as portraits, sea and beach, and dance. Oil paint is Odile’s favourite medium because it gives her the freedom to create deep, rich textures. Odile's style is realistic and figurative. The figures in her work are often detailed and lifelike. Odile believes that colour is a universal language, and she often uses bright hues to create a powerful image.
