IVN Nature Walk Chaams Broek

On Sunday morning 13 April, join the nature guides of IVN Mark & Donge as they walk through meadows and along streams. The Chaams Broek is a small-scale stream valley landscape.

Information

The Chaam streams form a beautiful, hand-shaped stream system, primarily flowing from east to west, with many side channels. A "broek" here is not a piece of clothing but a marshy land, bordered by trees and shrubs. Stream valleys have always been attractive places for human settlement. The stream meets the need for water.

The soil in the valley, in the meadows, is always more fertile due to flooding than the higher sandy grounds, and these higher grounds offer a dry living space. You walk through a beautiful hedged landscape with meadows, woodbanks, and pollard willows, where you can enjoy a unique plant life and many birds.

In the area, there are reeds, wetland zones, and ponds that are attractive to amphibians. A small embankment has been built, which serves as an observation point: a "birdwatching pit" with a screen, from where birds can be observed without disturbing them.

Waterproof shoes are not a luxury.
Upon registration, you will receive information about the departure point.
