Inge van Calkar in MEZZ

Pop, rock, alternative or disco, Inge van Calkar is versatile and unafraid of anything. Sometimes she whispers in your ear, other times she overwhelms you with indie rock and a touch of post-punk. But one thing always remains the same: Inge is still Inge. Her music is about everything except complaining and heartache. You might know Inge van Calkar from the Radio 2 Top Song ‘Touchdown’, her participation in ‘The Best Singer-Songwriter of the Netherlands’ and ‘The Smartest Person’.

Inge has already made a strong impression and won awards, such as ‘Best Artist from the North’ during ESNS. She has also shared the stage with big names like Bløf, Van Dik Hout, Miss Montreal and Passenger. After a year of reflection, Inge van Calkar is back with new energy and a fresh perspective. “The music industry is so fleeting, and quality rarely gets the attention it deserves,” says Inge. “I needed some time to settle and to reconnect with why I do this. Creating tracks that make me happy and truly resonate with the audience, instead of aiming for a hit.”

Inge is back on stage with a tightly rehearsed band:

• Frank Fiedler on bass (known from the German soul band tok tok tok)
• Milo Groenhuijzen on guitar (previously played with Hanna Mae)
• Sjoerd de Vries on drums (known from the Beatles Sessions)

Together, they give a preview of her new album ‘Aggressive Nonchalance’, a record that promises to be her most personal and energetic work to date. Think of the atmosphere of Lana Del Rey, the energy of Goldfrapp, and the emotion of Phoebe Bridgers.
