Freedom lunch
PostSchool and Maczek Memorial Breda are organising the Freedom Lunch on May 5th. This interactive lunch will be followed by a workshop based on philosophical thoughts on the subject: Freedom is not a given.

The discussion addresses our Western way of thinking about freedom, which has its foundations in Ancient Greece 2500 years ago.
The development and change of the role of government in experiencing freedom will be explored. Several philosophers will be featured, including the Greek philosophers and Hannah Arendt. Are there other than Western norms for viewing freedom? What does freedom mean in a democracy? Is there unfreedom in a democracy? How far does freedom of expression go?
The topic fits within the celebration of Liberation Day on 5 May 2025, which has the slogan: Freedom is not a given.
