Experience Wander/Wonder by artist Annemijn Rijk

As the first museum, Stedelijk Museum Breda introduces a new way to experience art: not a traditional audio tour, but a groundbreaking audio experience. Specially developed by artist and philosopher Annemijn Rijk for the exhibition Soulmates. This unique experience provides the opportunity to engage with art on a deeper, bodily level.

Information

A sensory meandering through Soulmates
During the 'meandering', you are invited to open your eyes and let a number of works by leading photographers speak to you. By combining your gaze with subtle, flowing movements and paying attention to your breathing, you as a visitor find yourself in a kind of meditative trance where time seems to stand still. Works of art by Mous Lamrabat, Robbert Mapplethorpe, and Shirin Neshat, among others, come to life through this unique approach, and will move and amaze you. You have never experienced photography like this before!

The Grey Space – Where artist, artwork, and audience merge
Annemijn Rijk works in what she calls the ‘Grey Space’, an artistic space and methodology in which the artist, artwork, and audience collectively bring a work to life through embodied interaction. The unfiltered, communicative body and the way our body perceives the world form the basis of all her work.
