Brihang at MEZZ
Information
Saying that Brihang has been through a lot in the four years since the release of his album ‘Casco’ would be an understatement. He got married, built a family and then also had to deal with one of the most disruptive events imaginable: parenthood. It is therefore not surprising that his new album took four years to materialise. The title ‘Droomvoeding’ (Dream Feeding) indicates how much fatherhood has left its mark on this third album.
“Dream feeding is feeding your baby while they continue to sleep undisturbed. We feed our lives with dreams and ambitions, dreams that guide our lives in a direction.” Do not expect a sentimental album with children's songs, quite the contrary. The rapper turns the lens on himself and his immediate surroundings, documenting everything he sees or feels, unfiltered. From the beautiful moments on that pink cloud to the despair in the middle of the grey mist and everything in between: Brihang proves to be a masterful chronicler of his own life, with observations that everyone - with or without children - can relate to. He still remains incomparable to anything or anyone else, a breath of fresh air in times when tried and tested formulas and almighty algorithms seem to dominate.
‘Droomvoeding’ was released on Friday 6th October under Fake Records, both physically and digitally. The album debuted at number 1 in Belgium and Brihang embarked on sold-out club tours in both autumn and spring. This summer, he will perform at the biggest festivals, including appearances at Rock Werchter, Pukkelpop, Couleur Café and Cactusfestival.
