Together with a guide from Gilde De Baronie, you will visit the old fortress town of Heusden on this long cycling tour.
On the way there, you pass by the Overdiepse Polder. Here, the project "Room for the River" has been realised, to be able to handle the extremely high river water levels in the future. The farms there are built on mounds.
You cycle further along the Bergse Maas. Here, you can enjoy a beautiful wide polder landscape. You will cross by ferry twice.
You will have your sandwiches in Heusden, after which you will take a tour of the magnificent fortress town.
Via the Elshoutse Wielen and the old "Zeedijk", you go to a stunning nature reserve: the Baardwijkse Overlaat. The entire area has been plagued for centuries by the devastating river water. The effects of this are still clearly visible.
You cycle over the former railway bridge of the "Halve Zolenlijntje". Afterwards, you will return home via the Drongels canal and the wooded surroundings of the Loonse Dunes.
