Bike tour 'from sand to seawall' | Gilde De Baronie

The cycling route goes to a relatively high and sandy area, via the Cadettenkamp, which is 10 metres above NAP, to a low-lying area, the Oranjepolder, 30 cm above NAP, where the soil is mainly sea clay.

In the sandy area, rainwater can seep through, and in the Oranjepolder, the water can emerge as calcium-rich spring water. The area where sand and sea clay gradually transition is officially called: The Seam of Brabant.

The gradual transition is clearly visible in the landscape in terms of vegetation. You cycle through, among others, Dorst Forest, Oosterhout, and Den Hout.
