In 2025, Breda will celebrate 88 years of Kielegat. In honour of this beautiful carnival milestone, the Blind Walls Gallery realised this special Kielewall in collaboration with the Kielegat Foundation. Scottish artist KMG, known for her lively and colourful style, painted a number of characteristic figures of Breda's carnival, including the Prince, Tuur Piek and the Jester Adriaaan van Bergen. The traditional brass band and the polonaise are also depicted.
The Kielewall was officially unveiled by the youngest prince, PrinceDriekus d'n Tweejde and the oldest living prince, Joop d'n Irste. Local residents were closely involved in the creation of this ode to carnival. From the selection of the artist to contributing ideas about the design.

Moederheil was until the end of the 1960s the largest maternity home in the Netherlands. Maternity homes were clinics for unmarried mothers, women and girls who were deemed incapable of caring for their child. Or for whom the shame of having a child was too great. After giving birth, they had to immediately give up their child for adoption, often without any further contact.
The initiative for the mural was taken by a group of people consisting of a mother who had to give up her child here in 1969 and five people who were born and given up in Moederheil.
In the 20th century, between 15,000 and 25,000 children were given up for adoption in the Netherlands.

After a temporary mural in the foyer of the Chassé Theater, Otto Baum returned to Breda. For this painting, he used a unique, homemade 'Ottotool'. Perfection is not the aim. The texture and brushwork are clearly visible and together form a dynamic and monumental pattern.
Please note: this mural has been placed in a section of the Chassé Theater that is not accessible to the public.

Just before a performance, the vibrant foyer of the Chassé Theatre feels like an indoor street in a busy metropolis. The architecture of Herman Hertzberger is an inexhaustible source of inspiration for artists, which is why the mural in this foyer changes every year.
“Beauty arises from imperfections and the unexpected,” says the Amsterdam-based artist Willehad Eilers, also known as Wayne Horse. In a hugely varied body of work, Eilers shines a light on contemporary existence. With biting humour and childlike playfulness, he focuses on the bizarre, the grotesque, and the flawed; his creations are examples of what James Clifford terms ‘ethnographic surrealism’.

With this painting on an electricity house, Daan van Bommel gives a nod to the old turf shipping that ran through the district. He drew his inspiration from conversations with local residents, some of whom also helped him with the painting. He asked them the question: “What gives you energy?” The answers have been incorporated into the painting.

In 2024, the Special Olympics National Games were held in Breda and Tilburg, the largest national event for people with intellectual disabilities. For Blind Walls Gallery, this was a unique opportunity to collaborate with artists with disabilities, often referred to as outsider art. At Atelier Galerie Herenplaats in Rotterdam, various artists with intellectual disabilities work daily. They exhibit their work worldwide.
Brenda van Vliet creates art at Herenplaats, and her work is characterised by dreamy colour gradients. She designed the mural for Breda, which was executed by experienced mural artist Marijn Gronert.

Under the leadership of Hendrik III of Nassau and his third wife Mencía de Mendoza, Breda welcomed princes, artists, and scholars from across Europe in the sixteenth century. Together with the local people, they transformed Breda into a beloved city where life is still celebrated every day. Breda is a vibrant meeting place where innovation and creativity come together, inspired by influential thinkers and doers.
Illustrator Daan van Bommel collaborated with Handpicked Lab and was inspired by the story of Hendrik and Mencia. The design on the door in the Explore Breda Store was created by Daan himself. The other images were generated by a specially developed AI model and applied by a robot printer.

In 2016, the Breda digital art collective SMACK created a contemporary interpretation of the famous painting The Garden of Earthly Delights by Hieronymus Bosch. In the following years, they also produced new versions of the side panels of this triptych. Curious about how Hieronymus Bosch would interpret their work, they let AI regenerate their work into a panorama in his style. The gigantic print on mesh fabric was accompanied by the official opening of the Oranje Zuid parking garage.

On 21 August 2022, one of the most famous cycling tours in the world passed through and alongside Breda: La Vuelta. It became a celebration of 100 days where cycling was at the centre. To create a lasting memory of this event, illustrator and artist Daan Botlek created this mural.
On both sides of the tunnel, a peloton of cyclists can be seen. The colours are inspired by the different jerseys that are awarded during the Vuelta.

This painting by Robert Jan Lechner shows the transformation of humans and water. It is based on Molenleij, a nearby urban stream. Centuries ago, this stream served as a ditch between the agricultural fields. Nowadays, it is an urban stream that runs through the Brabantpark neighbourhood.
Robert Jan was inspired by old school charts of streams, rivers, and plants. The structure of this Blind Wall consists of a cross-section, featuring three animals at its centre: a beaver, a fish, and a heron. They represent land, water, and air.

The ‘You Are Welcome’ in this painting reflects the core values of cultural centre Nieuwe Veste: everyone is welcome. The word ‘welcome’ deserves the most prominent place in the design. Each letter has a different appearance, colour, and feeling. This represents diversity and gives each letter a unique character, just like the visitors of Nieuwe Veste.
The letters also show what happens behind the doors of Nieuwe Veste. An ‘E’ is depicted on a piece of paper (literature and creativity), while another takes the shape of a music note (music offerings).

The 37-metre high 'view of the Vuchtpolder' refers to the military past and the water-rich nature area of today.
During the 80 Years' War, the Vuchtpolder was strategically flooded, preventing soldiers from crossing the area. The woman looks out over the polder, just like the soldiers did in the past. The flower 'Spanish rider', depicted underwater, refers to the Spanish soldiers who were unable to make the crossing to Breda. The water represents reflection and purity. Fairytale characters often appear in the work of artist Super A.

During the renovation and redesign of the Liniekwartier neighbourhood, a lot of attention has been paid to sustainability and climate adaptation. Eveline Schram therefore focused on greening, biodiversity, and connectivity in her two paintings.

This Blind Wall tells about one of humanity's most loyal friends: the horse. Horses have been by mankind's side for centuries through various circumstances.
Breda was an important military city due to its strategic location and became a key transit route between the south and north. The painting is also a tribute to the making of exploratory journeys.
The use of cold and warm colours represents day and night. The MonkeyBird Crew was inspired by the painting 'The Surrender of Breda', created by the artist Velasquez.
