There are many ways to explore a city. Could it be more active and adventurous for you? Then Breda is your city.

Climb the tower of the Great Church Breda.

It is almost a hundred metres high, the tower of the Grote Kerk Breda. You can't go all the way up, but if you go with a guide from Gilde de Baronie, you can reach 60 metres. You do have to do some work because it's quite a climb up the spiral staircase. But once you're up there, you'll be rewarded with a beautiful view over Breda and its surroundings..
For safety reasons, the minimum age is 12 years old.

Look for the 'Big Five'.

Go on a safari in your own country and discover the 'Big Five' of Brabant: red deer, roe deer, beaver, wild boar, and fox. There is a great chance that you will encounter the fox and the beaver in the Biesbosch! The beaver is the icon of this National Park. There are more than 300 of them living in this area. Since 2017, red deer have been reintroduced to the Netherlands in the Groene Woud (between Tilburg, Den Bosch and Eindhoven). You can already spot roe deer in the Mastbos in Breda. Be very quiet, you might just see one passing by!

Exploring Breda

Do you like a challenge? Then follow a treasure hunt through Breda. There are several options available. Hunts that are fun with children, but also those aimed at adults. For large and small groups. This way you can explore the city while exercising your brain.

Escape rooms in Breda

In an escape room, only one thing is important: escaping as quickly as possible. But how well do you and your team perform under time pressure? In an escape room, you'll finally find out who among you are the stress chickens and who are the cool cucumbers.

Walk along the inner city canals of Breda

Characteristic for Breda are the singels (note: not canals!). The outer singels are generally busy with traffic, but almost everywhere there is also an inner singel which slowly transforms into a nice walking and running route. As you walk along the water, you pass by many highlights of the city, such as the Koepelgevangenis and Valkenberg Park. You can always see the Grote Kerk towering above the buildings in the distance. Follow the inner singels for a lovely walk of around 7 kilometres.

Discover the historical nature at the Spinolaschans.

The nature and history of the city are interconnected. The outlines of the Spinolaschans, built in 1924 (between Breda and Terheijden), can only be seen from the air. The defensive structure is still located in Breda, hidden among the trees. In 1624, the Spanish field marshal Ambrogio Spinola built a fortification at this location to prevent the State army from entering Breda during the Eighty Years' War. Today, the Spinolaschans forms a beautiful nature reserve ideal for hiking.

Golfing

Ready for something new? Go have a hit at a golf course! Breda has a number of diverse golf courses where you can let off steam. At Golfpark De Haenen, you can feast your eyes on the partially hilly terrain with ponds and pools. Golf Club Albatross in Prinsenbeek also has an atmospheric course among the trees. Are you up for the challenge?
