A new location for BredaPhoto and immediately the biggest! The old police station on Chasséveld has been completely converted into a hotspot and is one of Breda Photo's highlights. Not only are many different photographers showing their work here, there is also a cinema showing 5 short films every day. You can shop in the book shop and are you ready for a short break? Then pop into the catering facility here for a cup of coffee. For a visit to festival centre Carré Chassé, it is best to take some extra time.

What great stories can you expect at Carré Chassé? We briefly highlight some of the artists:

  • Thana Faroq  tells stories about strong young women who, like her, came to the Netherlands as refugees. With images and text, she gives us a glimpse of their journey towards a new identity.
  • Dutch-Palestinian photographer
  • Sakir Khader takes us into the lives of Palestinians in Jenin and Nablus. What is it like to grow up in Palestine? Can you be a child? What possibilities and opportunities are there for your life path when you are born here?
  • Max Grund's work explores themes of exclusion, shame and arrogance as a form of self-protection and is based on personal experiences during his teenage years This young talent invites viewers to rethink preconceptions and embrace the beauty of vulnerability.
  • Giany Kraan (GIGI)  explores the phenomenon that bloodlines are consciously or unconsciously bleached by choosing non-black partners, not infrequently a survival mechanism. His work brings together stories of people from all over the world.
  • With the film Forest on Location, artist duo
  • Margit Lukács & Persijn Broersen aim to ask questions about how we as humans relate to nature. Using digital techniques such as photogrammetry (BUAS Game training), this duo has created a virtual replica of the last remnants of the last primeval forest in Europe.
  • Internationally renowned Maria Magdalena Campos-Pons  surprises visitors with an impressive display of life-size textile canvases in the atrium. Who am I anyway, she seems to ask herself. And who are you?
  • Where do ships go after their final voyage? Hira Nabi's docu-fiction film is set on a beach in Pakistan, where rejected ships are being scrapped. The film zooms in on the lives, the exploitation, the ecological damage and the rich industries that dump their waste in other parts of the world.
  • Photographer Anaïs López's grandmother left her two small children behind in 1946 and left for South America with her Nazi lover, or so the story goes. To get a grip on her past, Anaïs researches her family history. The film Bloodband is a film by Anaïs López, produced by Prospektor in co-production with KRO-NCRV.
  • In the film My little Ambi, Amber Dooms takes viewers on a journey from innocent childhood to the feverish world of puberty and young adulthood.
