As soon as you step into the Grote Kerk in Breda, you are immediately surprised by an impressive spectacle. The floor is covered with a striking reddish-orange material that colours the light and dampens sound. This is the work of the artist Rosângela Rennó, who transforms the imposing interior of the church with her solo exhibition Encounters | Encontros. With a mix of photos, videos, and other artworks, Rennó invites you to reflect on important themes. A unique experience you won’t want to miss!

Rosângela Rennó, the grande dame of Brazilian art, lives and works in Rio de Janeiro. She draws her inspiration from what she calls “dead files”: old family albums, found photos at flea markets, newspapers, and archives form the basis of her work. For BredaPhoto, she delves into the history of the Grote Kerk. Although she is not yet very well known in the Netherlands, this exhibition will certainly change that!
