La Costa is a region where indigenous and Afro-descendant communities have been striving for self-governance for generations. This is clearly reflected in Gordillo's photographs. She portrayed the lives of the multi-ethnic communities in La Costa with dignity and confidence. This extensive body of work provides a unique account of places and people who became the protagonists of their own stories and is being shown at BredaPhoto for the first time outside Central America!
