The Silence dances! For and with children of all ages and their (grand)parents. They perform at schools and theatres around the world. The Silence wants to let children dream, stimulate their curiosity, and help them to be creative. Playing is how children discover the world around them. Through play, they learn to look at the world in their own way.
The performances of The Silence invite you to let your imagination run free.
The dance company has been collaborating for years with the same composers, musicians, dancers, and choreographers.
LeineRoebana, led by choreographers Andrea Leine and Harijono Roebana, stands out in the dance world due to their unique style and use of live music. Their performances combine dance, text, set design, and various music styles into a surprising whole. Dance and music are equally important in this context and work together as one.
LeineRoebana seeks contact with other cultures, subcultures, and art forms. They believe that openness and vulnerability are necessary for innovation. In addition to theatre performances, LeineRoebana also creates productions in special locations, such as festivals and old factories, and the company collaborates with well-known musicians and composers.
Leine Roebana has been the resident company of the Chassé Theatre since 2009.Dansnest creates dance in various locations in the city. It does so with social and societal themes as a starting point. It steps outside the beaten paths of the traditional dance world in a participatory and connective working process.
The performances are tailor-made in interaction with people who are intrinsically linked to the location. Each project begins with artistic research involving input from creators, dancers, students, and the residents of the city, leading to interactions between people and space and among people themselves. In this context, Dansnest continually asks itself what it means to be essentially connected.
Under the name De Ader, Dansnest is currently exploring how to enhance togetherness by dancing together. How to strengthen the connection between residents through movement and thereby expand the social network of vulnerable groups. To this end, it collaborates closely with cultural, welfare, and care institutions from the city.
Dance Performances
Artistic director Guilherme Miotto of Corpo Máquina Society repeatedly explores what 'creating dance' can mean with his Instinctive Performance approach. Radical and open. Resulting in impressive dance performances.
Instinctive Performance
Instinctive Performance stimulates the imagination that emerges from the body itself, as opposed to using the body to express ideas. Instinctive Performance assumes that our experience of the world is nestled in our bodies, in the depths of our subconscious. It invites movement that frees the body from its constraints of social conventions and encourages the activation of personal layers of instinctive, physical knowledge.
System Hacks
In addition to dance productions, Corpo Máquina develops System Hacks, projects aimed at bringing together different groups and individuals through movement and performance.
The100Hands has been creating physical, interactive dance performances since 2014, with a distinctive style that appeals to people of all ages. Based in Breda, they collaborate with partners in countries such as Belgium, China, and Sweden. Their vision revolves around connection: through interaction and exchange, they bring people closer together and to themselves.
With compact, mobile performances, they allow the audience and dancers to experience the power of everyday interactions. The company is led by founders Mojra Vogelnik-Škerlj and Jasper Džuki Jelen. Additionally, they work with a permanent team of dancers, composers, and designers, who contribute to intimate performances in unique locations worldwide.
Compagnie Tiuri brings together people with and without disabilities to tell stories at a high artistic level and to create connections. Central to this is 'the encounter': truly seeing and supporting one another. The company combines raw, poetic imagery with a focus on who someone is, not just what they can do, and spreads this humanity worldwide.
In addition to performances, Tiuri is committed to education, guiding talents from special education from student to master. This way, they inspire a new generation to realise their artistic dreams and make art accessible for everyone, regardless of background or disability.
