Big Belly Bar Experience

  • Beer and/or wine
  • Lunch
  • Diner
  • Drinks
Three friends from Breda with their own brewery. In 2016, Tom, Remco, and Willem started Big Belly Brewing Company. The idea to actually serve their beers somewhere quickly followed: their own place. And that became Big Belly Bar at De Haven.

At Big Belly Bar, you can enjoy lunch in the afternoon and dinner in the evening, but it's also a great place for a solid drink. Of course, with self-brewed beer! Beer sommelier Jet ensures that you are served the most delicious beers.

24 draft beers

When visiting Big Belly Bar, you can't miss it: the bar with 24 tap faucets. At least 12 beers come from their own brewery. And those are always beers with a story. Smooth Louis is inspired by the jazz artist from New Orleans. And if you look closely at the bar, you'll also see the trumpet lying somewhere… "We have incorporated all sorts of eye-catchers in the bar, all of which have something to do with our beers," says co-owner Tom.

Not really a beer lover? No problem, because they also have 24 wines on the menu and 12 mixers. But you can also choose from delicious non-alcoholic drinks, such as the homemade Big Belly Ice-Tea or fresh ginger lemonade.

Comfort food

At Big Belly Bar you are also in the right place for a snack. "We serve creative comfort food in small portions," says Tom. Ideal for setting a table full of delicious dishes to share with each other. Think of sticky chicken wings, smashed beef burgers, but also flatbread with homemade hummus and wild salmon with beetroot cream, popcorn shrimps and Big Belly's version of KFC: Korean Fried Cauliflower.

"There's a funny story about those popcorn shrimps," says Tom. "We had the idea to make popcorn shrimps. At the time, our chef took that quite literally, and marinated the shrimp in real popcorn instead of just 'regular' crispy batter. A surprisingly tasty result that still appears on the menu."

Liquid desserts

In addition to delicious desserts such as the pumpkin pie with cinnamon ice cream and the 'damnn' blanche with vanilla ice cream from the neighbours La Bohème, you can also choose from liquid desserts at Big Belly Bar. What? A beer with flavours of the tastiest desserts, such as the Limoncello Semifreddo Blonde. You want to try that, right?

Big Belly also has a lovely indoor garden. Here you can sit in the sun during the summer while enjoying a beer.
